Backcountry Discovery Routes

Backcountry Discovery Routes is a 501c4 non-profit organization that works to establish and preserve off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. The organization relies on a dedicated group of volunteers that contribute thousands of hours each year to make these routes become a reality. Our current projects include the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route, the Utah Backcountry Discovery Route and the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route.The organization also relies on support from Touratech-USA, Butler Motorcycle Maps, KLIM Technical Riding Gear, BMW Motorcycle Owners Group, NEMO, Trailmaster Adventures and others.

Black Tie Ski Rentals

Black Tie Ski Rentals is Crested Butte’s only ski and snowboard rental company. We gather your information either over the phone or through our secure website at www.blacktieskis.com, select equipment from our own fleet based on that information, and deliver and fit the equipment to you at your place of lodging. If something doesn’t fit, we have a full run of equipment in our vans to ensure a proper fit. If you have a problem with your equipment during your trip we are just a phone call away. We also have a base area location to serve you. At the end of your trip simply call us and we’ll pick all of the equipment up.

Flattop Tack

You may not thinking riding a horse requires any work at all considering the horse is moving us forward, but in the world of horseback endurance riding, we actually are in the saddle anywhere from 4 to 24 hours depending on the mileage of the race (50, 75 or 100 miles), and for some us, we are trotting or cantering for much of the ride. The horses need electrolytes and so do we on those very hot rides. I operate Flattop Tack (www.flattoptack.com), a horseback endurance and trail tack shop, and we sell Acli-Mate.
