Dear Acli-Mate,
Approximately 1998, I attempted to do a backpacking trip up Mount Whitney with (4) other college pals. End result? 48 hours later, I had to descend due to HAPE.
Approximately 2001-2005, I kept having “reverse squeezes” after standard airplane rides (international and nationwide) resulting in headaches, dizziness and vomiting.
Fast-forward to September 26-30, 2016. I was able to successfully complete a 5 day backpacking trip in a wilderness area within Stanislaus National Forest; (7) lakes and 26.5 miles round trip later, I had a wonderful time with my husband and lovely trooper of a dog – altitude sickness and incident free.
I owe this success to Acli-mate. Since the Mt. Whitney incident, I’ve had a bit of trepidation about returning to do any race or recreational activity above 8000 ft. I’ve also definitely educated myself about acclimatizing pre-vacation and was thankful to come across your product (2) weeks before departure. I started supplementing Acli-mate exactly (7) days prior to departure coupled with 48 hour acclimatization at base altitude.
During the backpacking trip, I realized how effective your product actually was. On a day we decided to do a day hike to a further lake with an ascent of 1000 ft in (2) miles, I thought I didn’t need my morning dose of Acli-mate; “I’m fine, I’ll be good for a short jaunt.” Halfway through, I felt myself getting headaches and losing a bit of coordination. Back at base camp, I took another dose of Acli-mate and the HAPE symptoms disappeared.
I work as a sales specialist in the outdoor industry and look forward to referring your product to customers on a regular basis.
Thanks for producing an effective product. ***Should your company decide to publish my review in any public form, I respectfully request my initials, L.C., only be used.***
Thank you,
