My husband and I used Acli-Mate on our trip to Machu Pichu . We started taking Acli-Mate several days before we landed in Cuzco, which is at 11,150 ft elevation. We stepped off the plane in Cuzco and toured Machu Picchu at 7,710 ft elevation for three days and never had a problem with the attitude. Since we purchased a good supply of Acli-Mate before we left we were able to share our supply with our fellow travelers which seemed to help them as well. We did offer Acli-Mate to a young man who was feeling the effects of the altitude and he proceeded to vomit it all up. Moral to the story: prepare because once you are at altitude it may be too late.
